Special Operations Forces Medical Elements (SOFME) personnel have extensive medical training focused on combat health service support, trauma care, aeromedical decision making, and bare-base preventive medicine support.
The key capability that the SOFME provides is deployed aerospace medicine support for AFSOC aircrews and special duty personnel. The SOFME is specifically trained and equipped to provide SOF mission support and to establish bare-base operations in austere, forward and/or sensitive locations.
