Description:
I will be sure, always...
Official adoption of the Parachute Rigger Badge had been sought for many years by a variety of Quartermaster officials.
Back in 1983, Mr. James S. Emery—Military Analyst for the Airborne Department at the Quartermaster School—submitted a formal request to officially adopt the Parachute Riggers Badge. The field rallied behind him with unprecedented support, but the proposal was denied.
In 1986, General Richard H. Thompson, commander of U.S. Army Materiel Command and the Army’s senior Quartermaster officer, stepped in. He personally urged the Chief of Staff of the Army to reconsider the decision. After gathering feedback from across the force, General Wickham approved it on 9 June 1986.
