Description:
The original design of the Missile Badge was prepared by the United States Army Heraldic Division at Arlington, Virginia. There are four significant elements of the badge:
-The use of the generic missile is intentional so as to resemble no particular missile in the inventory.
-The badge was given an hourglass shape to signify the timeliness of the weapon systems’ response capabilities.
-The four stars, two on either side of the missile, represent the operational domain of the missile systems, the total aerospace environment.
-Finally, two vertical bands beneath the missile represent a residual vapor trail left by a missile in flight.
